Vandals strike streets of Port

9/05/2008 10:57:00 AM
PENSIONER Ray McClenahan reckons young vandals in his neighbourhood are getting away with "murder".

The 69-year-old was shocked when his letterbox was bombed in the middle of the night.

And the Muston St resident believes bored children on holiday are responsible.

"When they are under age the cops can't do much,'' Mr McClenahan said. "Now they get away with murder.''

The retired salesman said it was not the first time his letterbox had been attacked. Vandals also have sprayed graffiti on his garage door and car in the past.

"The police need to do more to stop vandalism in the area," he said.

Port Macquarie Police duty officer Ron Mudford said letterbox bombing incidences were "rare".

He urged people to report incidents to police on 6583 0199.
