A MORE "streamlined" Donovan Oates Hannaford Lawyers will be the result of the departure of three solicitors and six support staff, the firm says.
In what is described as an amicable separation, partner David Reid is leaving the firm. He will establish his own practice, Reid Commercial Lawyers, new managing partner Justin Levido told the Port News.
Leaving with him are lawyers Martin English and Mark Stocks.
These departures, which will occur on July 1, have, unfortunately, meant "a number of other employees will have to be let go", Mr Levido said. The six other staff also will leave the firm on the same date.
From July, the firm's partners will be Mr Levido, Norm Morgan and Steven Miles, who, between them, have 70 years' service with the practice.
Brendan Lewis will continue as an associate lawyer, Julie Shields as licensed conveyancer and there will be eight support staff, Mr Levido said.
Mr Reid and his colleagues' departures prompted the firm "to have a close look at how we could continue in a streamlined fashion", Mr Levido said. Part of that process involved him taking over the reins as managing partner from Norm Morgan.
"David's departure from our firm has been completely amicable and we wish him all the best," Mr Levido said.
Donovan Oates Hannaford Lawyers, which has been in practice in Port Macquarie for almost 62 years, will remain at its premises at 111 William St and maintain its operational focus, "with an emphasis on providing a more specialised, client-focussed legal practice", Mr Levido said.
