1000 plants seized in raid

POLICE estimate the potential street value of cannabis discovered in a four-month police investigation on the Mid-North Coast to be $4 million.

A further 129kg of dried cannabis and more than 1000 cannabis plants were uncovered at nine different sites west of Port Macquarie on Wednesday .

The haul is in addition to 100kg of cannabis located last week during Operation Panelling.

Police have charged 17 people in relation to the alleged drug syndicate, three of whom were charged this week.

The men ? brothers Terry Patrick Quinn, 27, of Laurieton and Shannon Raymond Quinn, 26, of North Haven and Paul Justin Bradbury, 34, of Bonny Hills ? have each been charged with knowingly take part in the large commercial supply of cannabis.

The offence carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment.

Operation Panelling comprises officers from the Mid North Coast Local Area Command, Target Action Group, the State Crime Command's Drug Squad, dog unit, Polair and NSW Crime Commission.

During the operation, properties were searched at Kendall, Bonny Hills, Laurieton, North Haven, Dunbogan and Elands and Yarrowitch, west of Port Macquarie.

Local Area Commander Superintendent Paul Fehon thanked members of the community for coming forward with information in relation to cannabis production and supply on the Mid North Coast.

"Investigations are continuing, and police are urging members of the public to assist with inquiries by contacting Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
